JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Tropical Depression #2 located between Bermuda and the Bahamas is being monitored by the First Alert Weather team.
The low pressure will likely develop into the second named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane Season late Friday or on Saturday. Alex formed back in January over eastern Atlantic, and this storm will be named Bonnie.
Gradual development of this low is likely as wind shear gradually weakens and the surface low pressure moves over relatively warm water, including the Gulf Stream. The disturbance became Tropical Depression #2 late Friday afternoon.
The storm is expected to stay north and east of Jacksonville with only minor impacts including an elevated rip current risk and a gusty breeze. With a high rip current risk along our coast this holiday weekend, do not enter the water unless you are a strong swimmer and keep a close eye on children.
