A vehicle crashed into the Jacksonville University Council Building early Saturday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Police said two people were trapped inside.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department went to the scene. They were able to get one person out and transported to the hospital. He had non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver, Kaylie Smith, died at the scene, police said.
A Jacksonville University spokesperson told us there was no student involvement in this crash.
Witnesses said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Merrill Road. The car did not stop at the gate, went through the campus and crashed into the building.

This crash continues to be an active investigation.
JSO said this was the 87th traffic fatality this year.
