Driver killed in San Jose Blvd. crash that damages traffic light

STORY: Jacksonville Beach man arrested for stalking twice in one month

A driver was killed when they struck a thick metal pole that holds four traffic lights above San Jose Blvd., the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

The accident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. the intersection of San Jose Blvd. and Old St. Augustine Road. The driver was ejected and died at the scene, JSO said.

The pole that holds the lights was bent, authorities say all lanes of San Jose Blvd. and Old St. Augustine Road will be closed indefinitely due to the damage.

Traffic is being rerouted onto Kori Road.
