Man leads Jacksonville police on chase, dies in crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man died in a crash early Sunday morning after he led police on a chase in East Arlington.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda identified the man as 19-year-old Andrew James Chlebo, of East Arlington.

Bujeda said the chase started when an officer, who has been identified by JSO as Adam Boyd, heard squealing wheels and saw Chlebo's car turn north on Girvin Road from Clear Springs Drive.

The officer said Chlebo passed two cars and forced one off the road.

The officer turned on his lights and sirens; Chlebo passed one more car and forced a second car off the road. Chelbo lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and hit a concrete utility pole on Girvin Rd., according to a JSO police report.

Police say the chase lasted for about 1.4 miles.
