Coronavirus pandemic: The Salvation Army provides meals for families in need in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — QUICK FACTS:

  • As more businesses close due to the coronavirus pandemic, and employees are left without an income, unemployment rates spike across the United States of America.
  • The Salvation Army told Action News Jax their meal service has increased for more families in need of food in Jacksonville.
  • The Salvation Army will continue with all of their services, but are not accepting any more clients for their shelter in Downtown Jacksonville.
  • They offer a meal ministry to serve food from a field kitchen located outside of The Towers Center of Hope at 900 W. Adams Street in Downtown Jacksonville. Meal Ministry provides dinner for families and individuals in times of need every night of the year at 6:15 pm. The food pantry is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am located at 140 N. Davis Street. Bagged lunches are also available for pickup during food pantry hours.
