JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It’s official the Jacksonville Fair is canceled this year.
The coronavirus has affected many events around town this year, and the Jacksonville Fair has been added to the list.
Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair said Friday, that the safety of their visitors is their top priority.
“The impact of the fair’s cancellation will be felt far beyond the loss of our annual celebration,” said Bill Olson, President/CEO of Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair. “We are heartbroken for the small businesses, seasonal workers, competitors, exhibitors, vendors and community outreach groups who rely on the income and exposure the Jacksonville Fair brings them. We look forward to when we can gather again to celebrate all that is exceptional about Jacksonville and Northeast Florida,” Olson said. “Until then, stay safe, be well, and support each other. We’ll miss you.”
While the fairgrounds might not be used to host the annual fair this year, they will be used to host a food distribution event for Thanksgiving.
The Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair plans on coming back bigger and stronger in 2021.
The health & safety of our guests, participants and community is our highest priority. Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation and its impact on community health and well-being, we've made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel the 2020 #JaxFair.
