“That’s kind of scary. I don’t see stuff like that often,” Josh Rudloff said.
Rudloff and other neighbors said they were surprised to hear someone was shot and killed by the Burger King at the corner of King and Forbes.
JSO said two off-duty officers were in the area when they heard gunshots at 2 a.m. They found the victim dead on the sidewalk.
As officers were interviewing witnesses and working to learn what led up to the gunfire, people came back to pick up their cars they left behind after the shooting.

Action News Jax asked neighbors if they feel crowds get out of control.
“It’s very lively here, especially on the weekends but it’s not… I don’t know. I always feel safe walking around here so it’s not scary or anything like that. Just lots of people and lots of people having a good time,” Rudloff said.
Another neighbor said he sees plenty of officers working security.
“I feel like they’re around, if anything happens they take care of it,” Pope Wilson said. “There are just so many guns out there now. Anything could happen.”
JSO has not released any information about a suspect. Action News Jax is working to learn more about the person killed.
