JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Action News Jax has LIVE updates on this story on FOX30 and CBS47.

No one was hurt when a Jacksonville Sheriff’s officer shot at a man who had stolen a police car. The officer was providing backup during a traffic stop at Soutel and Moncrief last night, when a man jumped into his cruiser and took off.

“He yells for him to stop. He notifies the other officer that he’s now chasing his car, his car is being stolen. And while he’s chasing after the car he fires a shot”, said JSO Assistant Chief Brian Kee.

The suspect, 20-year-old Nalory Paul, was arrested for auto theft. The officer who was involved has been with JSO for less than a year. It’s Officer B.M. Morokavich’s his first shooting.
