Englewood family living in fear after bullets fly through home

A family said they feel like their Englewood home is being targeted. Lacey and David Thompson said their house was shot at by an unknown suspect Tuesday morning around 7.

It comes exactly two weeks after their home was ransacked in burglary.

“I mean two horrible things have happened within two weeks. It just can't be random,” Lacey Thompson said.

Their three young children were inside the home when the shooting happened. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The shooting left 5 bullet holes near their 4-year-old daughter’s bedroom. The police report said the suspect used a 9-millimeter handgun.

“I feel like they were trying to kill us,” Thompson said. The Thompson’s said they feel like they’re being targeted, but they don’t know why.

“We have no enemies. It's just bizarre,” Thompson said. “I have no idea who would do this and why.”

They said they don’t feel comfortable inside their own home and are hoping the suspect or suspects are caught.

“It's constantly a sense of looking over your shoulder, like who is watching me,” David Thompson said.

A witness said they noticed a dark colored hatchback or SUV flee the scene, just seconds after the shooting.

Action News Jax asked neighbors with surveillance cameras if their video captured a vehicle matching that description. Some said their cameras didn’t pick up the vehicle and others said they would review the footage and if it did, they would contact police.
