Eureka Gardens inspection expected Tuesday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Officials for Housing and Urban Development said Eureka Gardens Apartments will be inspected Tuesday.

Contractors on site said crews are going building by building to see what exactly needs to be done.

An Action News Jax investigation revealed potentially life-threatening problems at the complex in October. The repairs to the complex were supposed to be completed last week.

Action News Jax learned Monday night that Global Ministries owned an apartment complex in Memphis, which lost its HUD contract. People who live there are experiencing similar issues and soon they will have to relocate to cleaner safer housing.

HUD officials didn’t say if new deadlines would be made to fix issues, but said the inspection has to be completed before they move.

Action News Jax reached out to the owner of the Global Ministries Foundation, but he hasn’t returned the call.
