Exclusive: Jacksonville mother speaks out about son's unsolved murder

The mother of Johnnel Johnson is speaking out for the first time after her son’s death.

It's been almost two years since 17-year-old Johnnel Johnson was shot and killed at a party after First Coast High School's prom. Police say dozens of people were inside the home, but no one has been arrested for his murder.

April 25, 2015, is a day Katani Pollydore will always remember.

“I have a lot of memories. I mean, I have a lot of memories about him. That was the last time I seen him was that day. That was the last jersey he wore,” said Katani Pollydore.

Those memories are now frozen in time, framed in her living room. A picture from Johnnel's senior prom is all she has left of her son.

“My son didn’t deserve to die. He didn’t bother anyone. He always tried to help you,” said Pollydore.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said more than 50 people were at the home that night and as of now, no one can place the gun in the hands of the person of interest.

Action News Jax obtained the final report. It contains interviews with several teens who were inside that home. Sgt. Chuck Ford said one name was mentioned over and over again.

“Khalil Bradley is still a person of interest in this case. We did talk to him. He was there that night,” said Ford.

Police found out that Bradley is a member of a group called DMT, or “Da Money Team.” Bradley and Johnnel had an ongoing dispute for about a year. Ford said despite multiple witnesses confirming the rivalry and that while Bradley had been at the party, no one could say Bradley shot Johnnel.

“Most of these kids now that were involved in this two years ago are probably 18 or 19 years old. If anybody has any information, come forward. We love to hear from you. We’ll take that information and we’ll run with it,” said Ford.

JSO is asking anyone who may recall anything about the night Johnnel was murdered to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
