Exclusive: Woman talks about being carjacked by teen in Lake City

LAKE CITY, Fla. — "It could have been bad. It could have been real bad," the victim said.

The victim, a woman who didn't want to be identified, said she was in her garage when a 13-year-old she didn't recognize walked up her driveway.

"He says, 'I need a ride,' and I said, 'You need a ride where to?' because he looked like he wouldn't harm a flea," the woman said.

She said she told him no and he walked away, but then turned around.

"He said, 'I’m just sorry,' that's when he showed me the gun," the woman said.

The victim said the teen then grabbed her keys and jumped into her car, so she also got in.

"Just first instinct. Just get in, don't let him take that car," the woman said.

And he took off out of the garage.

"He goes through my yard and he's going like this and going through stop signs," the woman said.

The 67-year-old said the teen was speeding down the road, barely missing other cars.

“I could have been killed and him," the victim said.

That’s when she called 911.

After several minutes on the phone, deputies drove up behind them and used patrol cars to stop the teen and arrest him.

"They pulled the guns at him and opened up the car. Well, he finally opened up the car and they drug him out," the victim said.

The 13-year-old, who we aren’t naming because he isn't being charged as an adult at this time, is being charged with armed burglary, carjacking, abduction and driving without a license.

The investigation is still ongoing.
