Family holds vigil for Kingsland veteran stabbed a dozen times in back

A mother is demanding answers after her son was stabbed 12 times in the back and nobody has been arrested in his slaying.

The victim’s family said it will almost be a year since former U.S. Army medic, Taylor Justin Williams, was stabbed to death in Kingsland, Georgia.

Those who knew Williams said he was known for his contagious laugh, infectious smile and caring personality.

Williams' mom, Nichole, said on Aug. 14 her son was killed when stabbed a dozen times in the back.

“I was privileged to be Taylor’s mom for 26 years. I wish I had another 26 years to be his mom,” Nichole Williams said.

She said her son served two tours of duty in Afghanistan and always wanted to help people.

“I’ve been served a life sentence because this grief doesn’t go away as a mother,” Nichole said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said this 26-year-old victim was killed during an altercation involving several people outside an apartment on South Grove Road.

“Taylor was unarmed and stabbed in the back. How fearful were you? My son had no weapons on him and he was actually leaving the area when they actually came out to the roadside here – and called him back,” Nichole said.

The district attorney’s office sent Action News Jax an email that said Troy Grundorf was arrested on one count of tampering with evidence.

Williams’ mom said there are four people who should be charged with murdering her son.

“They have no conscience and they’re not remorseful and I need them to see what they did was wrong. They need to be held accountable for murder and accessory to murder,” Nichole said.

People gathered for a vigil Saturday night to honor the veteran.

Williams' family hopes to keep his memory alive.

“I miss him. He was my mini me. We were very, very close,” Nichole Williams said.
