Family in need after their Middleburg home catches fire twice in one day

A Middleburg family says they are lucky that no one was hurt, hours after their home caught fire twice in one day.

The family is without a home and has only the clothes on their back.

A hole in the roof is where the fire started.

“That was the electrical wires,” said Ana Mann.

Mann said that was the cause of the fire that burned her house. Action News Jax was on scene when fire crews responded to the fire twice on Wednesday.

“My everything I worked for since I was 17 years old is gone. Everything is gone, there’s nothing left,” Mann said.

Mann said she started to smell smoke Wednesday morning. That’s when she went outside to see what was going on. Mann said the fire was electrical and crews had to return later Wednesday night, to put out hot spots that popped back up.

“The house was on fire, I could see the flames over the house. I walked back inside and grabbed my kids and ran. By that time in 10 minutes, the whole house was engulfed in flames and smoke,” Mann said.

Mann said the fire started above her kids' room, but that day, for some reason, they wanted to sleep in the living room,

“It’s a very scary thing, to know that your children could have been dead. We all could have been dead. I have my children, and that’s what I’m blessed for. All of that can be replaced; my loved ones can’t,” Mann said.
