Fernandina Beach auto shop shuts down with no warning to customers

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — A Nassau County auto shop closed its doors without any notice to customers.

Action News Jax found the owner was served an eviction notice earlier this year.

Several vehicles that are in need of service are parked in the lot of All Pro Automotive, but the auto shop is now permanently closed.

"I pulled up this morning to get my tire, they have a scooter tire, and there's a sign on the door that says they are permanently closed," customer Brent Collins said.

Collins said he and another customer walked up to the front door Friday morning and found a sign reading "closed."

"We were shocked. He had his car and my tire was inside," Collins said.

He said he didn’t even get a phone call from an employee about the sudden shutdown.

"I would have figured they would have called if there was some potential concern, but clearly that's not the case," Collins said.

Action News Jax’s Danielle Avitable called the shop’s owner, Michael Jacobsen, over the phone to get answers and he told her that he didn’t get any notice either.

But Action News Jax found that in January, Jacobsen was served an eviction notice by PDQ Property Management.

"All that may be true, but it's a lot deeper than that," Jacobsen said.

Avitable also called the property management company and was told that the locks were changed and everyone was escorted from the business Thursday afternoon.

Some customers said they already paid money to get their vehicles fixed; now they are worried they won’t get that money back.

The property manager is working with customers to get their vehicles back to them.

Action News Jax looked up court records and found that an eviction notice was also served to the business in 2003.
