Kassidy Smith

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — A woman was killed early Sunday morning in a motorcycle crash.

The crash happened just after 3 a.m. near North Hampton Club on Amelia Concourse, south of State Road 200.

A black Yamaha motorcycle driven by 22-year-old Edward Wilcox was traveling southbound on Amelia Concourse when, for an unknown reason, the driver lost control, FHP said in a news release.

The motorcycle struck the curb and several trees in the center median and both Wilcox and the passenger, 23-year-old Kassidy Smith, were thrown from the bike.

The motorcycle continued to travel south on Amelia Concourse and came to rest near Hampton Club Way, FHP said.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene and Wilcox was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with critical injuries.
