FHP to host career fair in Lake City

The Florida Highway Patrol will host an "After Hours Career Fair" from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the FHP's Lake City station.

FHP is recruiting across the state and hosting career events to answer questions about the application process, pay and benefits, and specifics on possible job locations.

FHP jobs are available in Alachua, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Marion and Suwannee counties.

FHP encourages certified law enforcement officers to attend to learn about accelerated programs that shorten the hiring process.

FHP posted the minimum qualifications:

  • U.S. citizen
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of 19 years old at time of application (no maximum age restriction)
  • Valid drivers license
  • One of the following: one year of law enforcement experience (sworn or non-sworn); two years of public contact experience; two years of active continuous U.S. military service with an honorable discharge; completion of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours of college credit from an accredited college or university.

The Lake City FHP station is at 1350 U.S. Highway 90 W.  More information is available from local FHP recruiter Trooper Michael Cagle at 386-754-6284 or www.BeATrooper.com.
