JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two people escaped a house fire Friday in Jacksonville.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department were called to a home in the 1000 block of Starke Street, a few blocks north of Edgewood Avenue.
Fire crews said it appears that a couch caught fire in the living room of the home. Firefighters got the fire under control in about 25 minutes, according to JFRD.
Two people were in the home at the time of the fire, and both got out safely, JFRD said.
An older woman who was in the home was being evaluated by officials. No one was taken to the hospital.
The house was extensively damaged by the fire, fire officials said.
The Red Cross also responded.
