Florida unclaimed property public auction Saturday

Updated:

People all across the Sunshine State are invited to the 2014 Florida Unclaimed Property Auction.  The auction has more than 60,000 items, collectively valued at more than $1 million.

The auction is being held on Saturday at the Double Tree Airport in Orlando.

Items from the auction were gathered from unclaimed safe deposit boxes. Watches, jewelry and rare coins are among the auction items.

Proceeds go the Florida’s state education fund that supports the public school system.

Attempts have been made to return the contents of the safe deposit boxes to their owners. If at any time a property owner discovers that they own an item, the proceeds from the sale can be claimed.

Featured items include the following:

-Four $1,000 bills

-Men’s 18K gold and diamond Rolex watch

-6.36 carat platinum and diamond cocktail ring

-Baseball cards featuring Jackie Robinson, Satchel Paige and Willie Mays
