Former soccer coach arrested on suspicion of child molestation

A former Flagler County soccer coach was arrested for child molestation this week.

Sean Stern is a former traveling coach with statewide connections, including in Ponte Vedra.

Stern is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation.

An arrest report said he molested a 16-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy multiple times during 2015 and early 2016. Both were soccer players who attended a camp that Stern coached in Flagler County.

According to the report, Stern’s former boss at the soccer camp fired him and told police after hearing about what was going on.

Stern allegedly invited the two boys over to spend the night.

The report said he touched them inappropriately while they were undressed during that night.

He also allegedly gave them alcohol and drugs.

Officers said that Stern was arrested Thursday in Washington state. He remains held without bail in Tacoma.

The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone whose male child participated in soccer programs with Stern to talk to their children and find out whether they have been victimized or who may have vital information about Stern.

All information about Stern should be provided to sheriff’s Detective Jorge Fuentes at (386) 586-4890.

Detectives are also seeking any information on Stern that the public may have.
