Foul play now suspected after man found dead in burning Jacksonville home

Officers suspect foul play in the death of a man who was found inside a burning Jacksonville hom.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Michael Cook, 58 was found dead inside a home on Coach Park Drive on Wednesday.

Officials said he was found dead on the floor of a bathroom in the home.

At first, no foul play was suspected in Cook's death.

After the scene was processed and an autopsy was conducted, JSO said foul play was discovered.

Cook's death is now being investigated as a homicide.

Police are seeking a man who forced open the door to Cook's home and tried to save him. That man is considered a witness, and not a person of interest in the case, JSO said.
