Gainesville Police find 16 pots of marijuana near elementary school

The Gainesville Police Department left a paper bag note to the owners of 16 pots of marijuana after finding them near a trail close to an elementary school Tuesday evening.

The note reads:

“We have your weed. Call 911 to identify or claim it. Thanks. –GDP”

The plants were discovered after an off-duty officer found individually-potted cannabis plants while walking his dog on a trail near Norton Elementary School on Tuesday. Two on-duty officer later came to the area to pick up and store the pots ... until the owners could be found.
