Glynn County police looking for a suspected arsonist

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — Police are looking for an arsonist believed to have set a fire that caused a home in Glynn County to explode. The home belonged to a young mother and her baby, who weren’t there when it happened.

It happened Tuesday evening on Jesup Road. Neighbors told Action News Jax that they heard a loud explosion after they saw two cars speed out of the driveway.

They said the cars almost hit other cars along the way while driving down the road. Several witnesses told police that they the silver and black four-door cars taking off from the home.

“Two cars coming just off the driveway and running people off the road,” neighbor Bill Jacobs said.

Neighbors said they heard five gunshots come from this home the night before. Police is investigating whether this incident is connected to the arson.

“It’s unsafe. It makes you wonder what’s going to happen next,” Jacobs said. It's a feeling that won’t go away until the person responsible is caught, Jacob said.

“Just hope they catch whoever did it,” he said.
