Glynn County police searching for hit-and-run driver who hurt grandmother

The Glynn County Police Department is looking for a driver who hit a local grandmother and took off.

Mercy Myers, 63, was hit at the intersection of Altama Avenue and Altama Connector Wednesday around 9 a.m. Police say she was in the crosswalk.

Myers told Acton News Jax she was scared she wouldn’t make it.

“I thought everything was over for me. I’ve got children, grandchildren … 12 grandchildren,” said Myers.

Police say there will be minimal damage to the driver side front bumper and quarter panel area of the vehicle.

Myers’ family hopes the driver is held accountable. And she is thankful to be alive.

“I cry, then I rejoice in the spirit, because I’m still alive!” she said.

Call the Glynn County Police Department (912) 554-3645 or Officer Shane Nolen of the Special Services Unit at (912) 554-7800 Ext: 5172 if you’ve seen the vehicle.
