ORANGE PARK, Fla. — A 17-year-old faces charges after police found a gun at Oakleaf High School.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said a victim reported a firearm stolen May 1 from his Middleburg home. The victim told deputies that juveniles were home while he was gone for the weekend. Deputies said a juvenile was at the home with friends when the 17-year-old came over.
The victim’s wife told deputies on May 2 that a 17-year-old boy might have the gun at Oakleaf High School.
Deputies escorted Hunter Cianteo, 17, to the office and talked to him about the situation. The teen’s father showed up at the school and gave deputies permission to search his vehicle, CCSO said.
Deputies said they found the gun that was reported stolen in the vehicle.
Cianteo is charged with grand theft of a firearm and having a firearm on school property.
