Gunshot victim claims he got caught in crossfire between two cars

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Doctors at UF Health are treating a man with multiple gunshot wounds as police investigate how he got shot.

The man walked to the hospital for treatment.

He told police he got caught in the crossfire of two cars shooting at each other while on West Fifth Street near Whitner Street.

The victim said he was visiting friends in the area at the time of the shooting.

The victim said one car was dark in color.

Police did not know about the shooting until the man walked into the hospital.

No one else was hurt.  The gunfire caused some damage to a parked car and nearby home.
