Hundreds of drivers clocked at 100 mph or over in Northeast Florida hot spots

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, from January of 2017 to September 2018, troopers in Northeast Florida clocked 386 drivers at 100 mph or over.

Action News Jax obtained records that show 14 of those citations were issued along I-95, just South of International Golf Parkway.

Another hot spot was on I-95, just south of State Road 16, where FHP found 14 drivers that clocked at speeds 100 mph or over in the same time frame.

Action News Jax rode along with Trooper Emily Kroen, who has been with FHP since 2015, it took less than 90 seconds to find a driver going almost 20 miles over the posted 70 mph speed limit.

“There’s always going be speeders though, it’s just if we are there to catch them.”

One of the most alarming speed spots was in Duval County.

From January of 2017 to September of 2018, Fhp ticketed 37 drivers going 100 mph or over on 295 from 103rd to Collins Road.

We found there were 238 crashes in that same stretch.
