Husband takes out ad to find driver who hit wife on bicycle

A local bicyclist who survived a hit-and-run is asking the community for help.

In August of 2017, Jean Ambrose was hit by a dark pick up truck in Marsh Landing in front of Ocean Park of Ponte Vedra.

Instead of stopping, the driver took off.

Ambrose says the truck would have damage to the mirror on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Ambrose’s life hasn’t been the same.

Six surgeries later, she is prepping for her seventh.

She’s optimistic, but fears the worst.

“There are days when I think, 'Will it ever be right?' There are days we talk about amputation. At some point, you may say there is no real guarantee it'll be fixed,” said Ambrose.

Ambrose said that her husband has taken matters into his own hands to find the driver by putting an ad in the local paper.

She hopes by getting her story out there someone may come forward with new information.

“He left me there not knowing if I was alive or dead, so to me, I can’t even imagine that someone would be that way," said Ambrose.

According to the couple their medical bills are now close to a million dollars, and they want the person responsible caught and to face charges.
