Investigators link suspect through DNA, phone data evidence in death of Jacksonville Navy mom

There is new information about the death of a local Navy chief petty officer, Andrea Washington.

Court documents released by the state attorney’s office say investigators linked suspect Danny Beard to the murder through DNA, telephone records and a home security system.

Weeks before her death, Washington told investigators that Beard threatened to kill her

On Sept. 17, Washington was found dead in her home.

Beard, her ex-boyfirend was arrested early December and charged in her murder.

This three-page affidavit for arrest warrant released by the State Attorney’s Office reveals DNA evidence linked Beard to the murder after three live .25 caliber rounds were found near her body.

Investigators also say, “Beard was at victim Washington’s residence during the timeframe of the homicide.”

The affidavit says Beard went to the home a friend identified in documents as “Jones.”

Beard allegedly told Jones he received an alarming text from Washington and wanted to check on her.

The pair drove to her home, which is when Beard says he found Washington dead inside her home.

On Sept. 4, weeks before the murder, Washington filed an injunction against Beard.

Washington said Beard had battered her days before.

Court filings show Beard said he was not in possession of any firearms.

However, the new arrest affidavit says a firearm was recovered at Beard's home

On the Sept. 17, Beard and Washington were scheduled to appear in court related to the injunction. Washington had been killed hours before.

Beards next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 31.
