Jacksonville Beach police arrest man moments after surf shop, pet store robbed

Jacksonville Beach police arrested a man after he attempted to rob a surf shop and pet store Wednesday.

Jacksonville Beach police got a call about a robbery at Pet Supermarket moments before an attempted robbery at Sunrise Surf Shop, officers said.

Jacksonville Beach police said Andrew Harrison, 32, entered the pet store and presented a clerk with a note demanding money and stating he had a gun.

He then ran across the street to Sunrise Surf Shop, where several male employees chased him out of the store, officers said.

An officer responding to the armed robbery call saw Harrison and initiated a foot pursuit.

Harrison was arrested approximately a block and a half away behind European Street Café when several other officers cornered him, police said.

Investigation revealed that Harrison never displayed a weapon during the robberies.

The victims and witnesses from both robberies positively identified him as the person who robbed their business.

He was taken to the Duval County Jail.
