Black was on her way home from a friend’s house Sunday morning when a driver hit and killed her before leaving the scene.

St. John said it was one of the most devastating times of her life after she learned her daughter had been killed.

“She was a very happy, outgoing child. My biggest thing is I can forgive possibly an accident, but we cannot and won’t accept somebody being left by the side of the road,” St. John said.

TRENDING:

Police said Black was riding eastbound on Beach Boulevard along with the driver, who struck her from behind.

Officers believe the driver could have been driving a 2011 to 2015 Kia Rio or a similar car.

Family members are now pleading with the community in for help finding that driver.

“Nobody deserves to die like this. Nobody -- your child, my child. How could you live with knowing that you killed somebody and didn’t do anything about it?” St. John said.

Police said this is the 41st reported traffic homicide so far this year.

The family is now warning other bicyclists to use caution when traveling in the area and they’re hopeful their daughter’s killer  will be found.

“It’s terrible to say but I hope whoever did this has children and realizes that could happen to them, too,” St. Sohn said.

Crime Stoppers is offering $3,000 and the family is offering an additional $2,000 for any information that could lead to an arrest in this case.
