Jacksonville flights canceled after outage at Atlanta airport

JACKSONVILLE. Fla. — The Jacksonville International Airport has canceled and delayed numerous departing flights Sunday after a major power outage at the Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., 17 flights have been canceled and 14 delays are impacting Jacksonville, according to flightstats.com.

Power went out at the Atlanta airport at 1:15 p.m. and all flights are being held, officials said Sunday.

The FAA has ordered a ground stop on all flights headed to the Atlanta airport due to the power outage. Evacuations are underway at the airport.

A Delta Air Lines pilot told passengers a construction crew cut a power line, causing the outage, but an airport spokesman, Andy Gobeil, said officials weren't sure.
