Jacksonville man dies in two-car crash near AC Skinner Parkway

A Jacksonville man is dead following a two-car crash Monday night, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The victim, identified as Austin Maurice Keith, 24, was driving a black 2016 Chevrolet Malibu southbound on Southside Boulevard, south of AC Skinner Parkway, when, "for reasons unknown," he lost control of his car and collided with a Dodge Caliber.

After the collision, Keith's car continued to travel off the right side of the road, over a median and onto a service road and then struck a tree.

Keith was wearing a seatbelt but died of his injuries. The passenger, Brian Farlow, 36, was taken to Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, according to FHP.

Troopers said the Dodge Caliber traveled off the left side of the roadway over the raised center median and came to final rest on the right shoulder of northbound State Road 115 facing south.

The 26-year-old driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
