Body of missing Jacksonville man who went fishing before Hurricane Irma found

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office confirms that the body of a missing kayaker in Jacksonville has been located as wind and rain from Hurricane Irma begin to batter the Jacksonville area.

Joel Digiacomo, 22, was fishing on a kayak in the St. Johns River near Scott Mill Road when he went missing.

Officers got a call around 3:20 a.m. Saturday and began searching for him.

JSO said Digiacomo's body was found in the St. Johns River. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is handling the investigation.
