Jacksonville mom trying to get management company to fix her leaky roof

A local mother says she's been waiting weeks for someone to fix her leaky roof.

Elaine Holloway took Action News Jax inside her Bunkerhill Boulevard home to see the problem firsthand. She said water was falling on her boys when it rained.

“I reported it to (Brickstone Properties and Management) on July 11 that I was having this problem, and someone just got here a week ago,” Holloway said.

Holloway said a contractor came by and tacked materials on the roof as a temporary fix.

She showed Action News Jax that they left a propane tank on her roof, and piles of wood with nails sticking out on the ground.

Holloway said the rain is creating mildew. She worries about the health risks for her boys.

“They have severe asthma, so they can't come in here,” Holloway said.  “I want an answer now because is involving my kids and their health.”

Brickstone’s registered address is in North Carolina. A representative got back to Action News Jax stating the work would be complete Monday.

Holloway told us Monday night that the management company sent a man by her home and he removed the propane tank from the roof.

He steam-cleaned the mattress that got wet and Holloway said he told her he would be back Tuesday to finish the job.
