JSO: San Marco shooting victim was not intended target, man arrested

Jacksonville police have made an arrest for a fatal shooting at a San Marco Hotel, and they say the person who was killed was not the intended target.

JSO was called to the area of the Scottish Inn on Philips Highway on January 29th.

A man was found near a vehicle, suffering a gunshot injury, and he later died at the hospital. That victim has since been identified as 52-year-old Timothy Tyson.

Police have now arrested 48-year-old Andre Burkes.

JSO says Burkes was in an argument with someone that started in the hotel and spilled outside.

At one point, Burkes allegedly pulled out a gun and starting shooting at the person he was arguing with, but instead, JSO says Tyson was hit.

JSO is crediting witnesses with identifying the suspect and helping secure this arrest.
