Jacksonville police searching for man who shot at officer

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who brandished a firearm at an officer early Saturday morning.

JSO said an officer was attempting to make contact with a suspicious person outside a closed business around 1 a.m. in the 2000 block of San Marco Boulevard.

The man pointed the gun at the officer and fired one shot, police said.

The officer was not hurt and did not return fire, but pursued the suspect on foot.

Police said the suspect was last seen running north on Hendricks Ave. and is described as a white male between 35 and 40 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall  with reddish-brown hair worn in a ponytail.

The suspect had a beard worn in a braid as well and was last seen wearing a black tank top and long black pants.
