JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville seafood restaurant is trying to help reopen a popular beachside park after it was damaged by Hurricane Matthew.

The Sandollar Restaurant and Marina, along with city council members, will host several events in December to raise funds for Huguenot Memorial Park.

The restaurant said it hopes to raise enough money to help reopen the park before next spring.

The estimated cost of to repair damage to the road, which is the primary reason why the park remains closed, is $550,000.

The restaurant said the funds will go toward other repairs for the park if the city provides funding for the road damage.

The proceeds from the events and items on sale at the restaurant will benefit the park. Donations can also be accepted in the the restaurant's lobby.
