Jacksonville police: Officer, suspect hit by police cruiser in Hogans Creek

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville officer and a suspect were hit by a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office cruiser near North Davis and 13th streets on Thursday night.

The crash happened as an officer was pursuing a carjacking suspect.

Around 8 p.m., an officer ran the tags on a vehicle he believed to be stolen and that vehicle came back as stolen.

The officer pursued the vehicle and eventually, the man driving the car bailed from the car and took off on foot.

The officer then chased him on foot and another officer that was responding to the scene as backup hit the officer and the man.

JSO said there were no serious injuries as a result of the crash. A woman that was in the stolen car at the time was detained for questioning.
