Jacksonville woman claims nephew was nearly abducted

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville woman says her 6-year-old nephew was nearly abducted while walking to his school bus stop on the Northside.

Theresa Mitchell told Action News Jax the boy and his 14-year-old brother had left for school Wednesday morning when a blue PT Cruiser pulled up beside them.

The woman inside the car allegedly told the younger boy to get inside the car, luring him with fruit.

“I guess he wasn’t close enough for her to grab him, so she begin to tell him ‘oh you have on such pretty clothes, such a pretty jacket, come closer,’” said Mitchell.

Both Mitchell and a police report say the boys did not know the woman.

Mitchell’s 14-year-old nephew grabbed the younger boy before he got too close, Mitchell told Action News Jax.

“The oldest one realized she was going to grab him and he pulled him back,” she said. “And when he pulled him back, she went on about her business.”
