Jacksonville woman searching for 'guardian angels' who helped save her husband's life

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A local woman is looking for two strangers she said helped save her husband’s life.

She tells Action News Jax they were driving home from work when her husband had a health scare behind the wheel.

Melissa Strong said it was the scariest situation in her life. Everything happened so fast, and now she’s looking for the two people that helped save her husband’s life.

“I just want to thank them, thank you so much for stopping and saving my husband, because he wouldn’t be here right now, if it wasn’t for you two,” said Strong.

It’s a heartfelt message from Strong to two people she doesn’t even know. Strong said a man and woman showed up moments after her husband had a health emergency while driving home last week on 103rd Street on the Westside.

“He said he had some numbness in his fingers, and then it turned into his fingers were contracted, his hands, his arms and then it moved all the way up to the right side of his body,” said Strong.

That’s when Patrick Strong was able to pull the truck over and his wife jumped into action.

“At the back of the vehicle, I started waving my hands and screaming 'Someone please help me!' and came around to the driver side, and he was in a full blown seizure at that point,” said Strong.

In a matter of minutes, the two strangers came out of nowhere.

“The female started chest compressions and CPR and the male helped me calm down as much as I could,” said Strong.

Strong said once help arrived, they were gone.

“I just know, I turned around and looked and everybody was gone. I didn’t know who to thank or where they went, or where they came from even,” said Strong.

As her husband continues to recover in the hospital, she’s still searching for those she’s now calling their guardian angels.

“I just want to hug you both and just thank you, just thank them, that’s all I can do,” said Strong.

It’s been a long week for Patrick Strong.

“My husband had a seizure, they found a mass on his brain, that has been removed and found several other masses,” said Melissa Strong. “I just want to thank them, thank you so much for stopping and saving my husband, said Strong.

That’s why she wrote a Facebook post, reaching out to the two she’s now calling her guardian angels.

“He’s the one that wanted to find these two people, more than anything, and he wanted to hug them around the neck and say thank you,” said Strong.

Strong said her husband has long road to recovery. He’s facing some surgeries and a final observation from doctors.
