Some fans left their seats early to escape the heat, seeking shade in the south end zone and Daily’s Place Amphitheater.

Others walked out during the third quarter, saying it was just too hot.

“It was brutally hot, especially if you sat on the right side of the stadium, (with the sun) that was beating right on you,” Jared Shlellabarger said.

Guest services offered people water cups to stay hydrated, and two Jacksonville Transportation Authority buses served as cooling stations with water misters outside.

Fans who stayed until the game ended said they were disappointed by the loss but are looking forward to better games and better weather during the next home game.

“Go Jags, we’ll get them the next time,” Barbara Butler said.

Action News Jax requested information from JFRD about the exact number of people who were treated for heat-related illness at the game but has not yet received that information.
