JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —

The home where police found an 8-month-old boy dead in a pool is owned by a Jacksonville firefighter.  According to property records, Thomas J. Hohorst Jr., owns the home at 11821 Leafdale Circle West.

Police told Action News the baby boy was left in a playpen inside the home during a party Friday night and when an adult woke up the next morning, the baby was found in the pool.

The baby has been identified by police as Karsyn Wayne Magum.

JFRD spokesman Tom Francis released this statement about Lt. Hohorst:

"Lt. Hohorst has been a member of the JFRD since 3/6/1989.  Sorry, but all details (including applicable familial relationships) as related to the incident will have to be released by JSO who are performing the investigation."

The Department of Children & Families is investigating.

“Deaths like the 8 month old’s from over the weekend are preventable.  DCF has a lot of questions about this case as it continues to investigate. DCF investigators are waiting on autopsy and medical records, which will take some time to get,” said DCF spokesman John Harrell.
