JSO: Woman pulled from burning Pine Forest mobile home dies

Both Jacksonville firefighters and Jacksonville police are investigating a deadly incident involving a fire in a Pine Forest neighborhood.

The Jacksonville Sheriff"s Office said a woman pulled from the burning mobile home Wednesday morning with critical injuries died at the hospital.

Police said they are investigating the death of the white woman as a homicide.

When officers arrived to the fire in the 4500 block of Victor Street, JSO said they were pushed back by the fire and could not get in.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said they received a call for a car fire but when they arrived, they found a mobile home on fire.

Firefighters were able to remove the woman trapped inside the home and rushed her to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

She has not been identified.

Battalion Chief Andy White told Action News Jax reporter Elizabeth Pace the mobile home is no longer livable. About 60 percent of the home is significantly damaged.

The cause of the fire is unknown. JSO said the state fire marshal is investigating.
