A Jacksonville man tried to rob a Southside Pizza Hut with a fake gun and a surgical mask, a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report said.

Kevin Hopper, 35, was seen outside the Pizza Hut in the 12500 block of Philips Highway by two JSO officers. Hopper entered the restaurant, and two employees came out and said that they were being robbed, the report said.

Hopper left the business and tried to walk away, but JSO officers surrounded him and put him in handcuffs.

Hopper told JSO, "OK, y'all got me," and added that the gun in his waistband was fake.

The report added that Hopper told JSO: "I'm just having hard times. How did y'all know I would be here?"

A cashier at the Pizza Hut told JSO that Hopper demanded money and added that he was sorry.
