STORY: Jacksonville man used car as weapon to run woman over, police say
Friends and family are remembering a Jacksonville mother of three who was killed when she was hit by a car.
JSO says John Henry Perry has been arrested for the death of Shafonda Boynton. Perry was charged with murder after he drove a vehicle through Boynton's fenced-in yard.
JSO says one of Boynton's legs was severed by the impact. She later died from her injuries.
Perry is also charged with attempted murder for hitting another woman, Jacqueline Thompson.
JSO says this all started after a text-message argument. Perry went over to Boynton's to pick up a car she borrowed from him, but he got into the vehicle and hit Boynton and Thompson with the car, JSO said.
The crash scene quickly became a memorial for Boynton. People could be seen dropping off teddy bears and balloons for Boynton.
Thompson told Action News Jax that she is not doing well and is bedridden and and facing massive medical bills.
