JSO: Bike rider killed by train in Jacksonville

A bike rider was killed late Saturday when he failed to look both ways before crossing the train tracks at McDuff Avenue and Post Street, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

JSO said the rider was attempting to cross the train tracks and crossed the tracks after seeing a train pass to his left. The rider didn't check his right side, JSO hit, and he was struck by a train going that direction.

JSO said the rider was thrown a "great distance" by the impact and died at the scene.

The rider's name has not yet been released.
