Man killed in front of Jacksonville Food Store

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Action News Jax reporter Ryan Nelson is live at the scene at 10 p.m. on FOX30:

Bullets flew outside the Speedway Food Store on Beaver Street in Lackawanna around 3:30 p.m., leaving one person dead Sunday.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the victim is a man but could not provide an age range in this afternoon’s briefing.

Investigators sectioned off a portion of nearby Woodstock Park to preserve the crime scene. Jessie McKay Jr. watched from the park as homicide detectives pieced together what happened.

“That’s a hurting feeling right there,” said McKay. “When a parent has to come up and identify their son or daughter.”

He tells Action News Jax violence is all too common in the area.

“They’re our future,” he said. “So if we don’t have no future, what are we going to have?”

The suspects’ vehicle is described as a dark grey Nissan Altima or Maxima, with silver rims and tinted windows. According to JSO, the vehicle appeared to have recent repair work on the driver's side rear tire panel.

Police say several men were inside the car.

JSO said a surveillance image of the vehicle may be released to the public.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward by calling the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers.

Police say no arrests have been made at this time.
