JSO: No danger from fungicide that fell out of truck

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Heckscher Drive near New Berlin Road was closed on Wednesday afternoon after a truck pulling a container carrying a solid fungicide overturned onto the roadway.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was called to the area just after 4 p.m. to investigate and found that the fungicide, called Manzate, was a class 9 miscellaneous material.

Class 9 is the least dangerous classification of hazardous materials, so the public and the surrounding area were not deemed to be in danger.

The fungicide is shrink-wrapped onto pallets, and no material actually spilled onto the roadway, JSO said.

The accident is being investigated by the truck company, Roadrunner Intermodal Services.
