JSO searching for gunman in overnight shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A gunman is sought by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in an overnight shooting in Northwest Jacksonville.

JSO says officers were responding to a person shot around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday. Officers found the victim in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the right shoulder.

The victim told JSO that he was leaving the Winn Dixie parking lot at the intersection of West Moncrief Road and Soutel Drive when the back passenger window was shattered by a bullet.

JSO said he drove to a nearby residence to receive assistance when his grandmother began driving him to the hospital and called 911.

JSO and Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department met them at a Popeyes parking lot and took him to a hospital.

There are no suspects at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
